Student Employment Opportunities at JSC

There are numerous student employment opportunities at JSC in our life sciences programs, beginning with high school all the way through working for advanced degrees. We often welcome students to work in our laboratories side-by-side with researchers given that we have the resources available.
  • Co-op Education Program offers the opportunity to combine academic studies with on-the-job training and experience.
  • Student Temporary Employment Program (STEP) is designed to integrate educational studies with a wide range of clerical, administrative, professional, and technical experiences. The most common is the Stay-in-School program that provides a source of income to students to help pay the cost of tuition while attending school. You may find summer employment and junior fellowship type programs as well.
  • NASA also has 3 internship programs leading to employment with NASA.
    • Federal Career Internship Program
Interns who participate in this 2-year program receive valuable on-the-job experience as well as formal classroom training. After successful completion of the program, interns are converted to permanent NASA positions.
    • NASA Contracting Intern Program
If you are a college graduate with a degree in a business related field and minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, the NCIP is a 30-month program which consists of 2 rotational assignments. Your first trip will be to NASA Headquarters in Washington, DC for orientation. Join us and start your career!
    • Presidential Management Internship (PMI) Program
The Presidential Management Internship (PMI) Program is managed by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM). Individuals who have earned a graduate degree and are interested in pursuing a career in Federal services will want to participate in this program.

Other employment opportunities include working with contractors and the National Space Biomedical Research Institute.
